The story behind this piece
A generic two-stage kerosene launcher, drawn the way engineers draw: a longitudinal section on a one-metre grid, with hatched walls, centre lines, dimension chains and a numbered parts list. It copies no real rocket, but its logic is real. Liquid oxygen rides above the kerosene, and a downcomer carries it through the fuel tank to seven sea-level engines; a vacuum engine with a far larger bell waits inside the interstage. The tank lengths are not guessed: at a mixture ratio of 2.56 and densities of 1141 and 810 kg/m³, the oxygen needs 1.82 times the kerosene's volume, and the drawing honours it. Detail C shows the gas-generator cycle that drives the pumps.
