The story behind this piece

Adinkra cloth is stamped by hand with symbols carved from calabash, inside grids drawn with a comb. This field repeats five of them: Adinkrahene (greatness and leadership), Nkyinkyim (life's twists and turns), Dwennimmen (humility together with strength), Nsoromma (a child of the heavens) and Sankofa (go back and fetch it — learn from the past), with a few picked out in gold.
